Women’s Tennis Starts Spring Season at NIU

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team suffered its first dual defeat of the 2021-22 season Friday night, falling 7-0 at Division I Northern Illinois at Chick Evans Field House in DeKalb, Ill.
 
Playing in their spring opener, the Warhawks (10-1 overall) were unable to pick up a match in doubles play as the Huskies took the doubles point for a 1-0 advantage. Courtney Day (Oshkosh, Wis./North) and Bethany Marshall (Cary, Ill./Cary-Grove) provided the closest score with a 6-2 setback at No. 3 doubles.
 
Northern Illinois (9-5) also swept the singles matches. Autumn Bruno (Milwaukee, Wis./Greenfield Whitnall) and Marshall each took a combined five games over two sets at the Nos. 1 and 5 slots, respectively.
 
UW-Whitewater returns to action Saturday, March 12, with home matches against Augustana (Ill.) at 12:15 p.m. and Grinnell (Iowa) at 5 p.m. at Lake Geneva Tennis.
