Evan Lewandowski (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Lake Zurich) has been selected as one of 15 semifinalists for the Gagliardi Trophy, an award presented by Jostens and the J-Club of St. John's University to the most outstanding football player in Division III.

A total of 40 ballots will be cast for the Gagliardi Trophy, with an additional 41
st to be determined by a fan vote. Fans can vote on one ballot per device between now and December 3 and 12 p.m. Central Time. The fan vote will be available on D3football.com.

Lewandowski, a senior transfer, wrapped up his second year as a Warhawk this season. A two-time All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference selection, Lewandowski was a member of the 2021 WIAC championship and national semifinalist squad and led UW-Whitewater to the program's 39
th league title and another NCAA Division III playoff berth this season.

The talented quarterback grew into the starting role this season completing 200 of his 318 pass attempts this season, a completion rate of 63%. He threw for 2,356 yards with 18 touchdowns in 11 games. He added a pair of rushing touchdowns on the season.

His four passing touchdowns in UWW's win at UW-La Crosse in October tied the program record for touchdowns in a game by a single player. He also helped the Warhawks break the record for points in a game (79), rushing touchdowns in a game (10) and touchdowns in a game (11) in the team's lop-sided win over UW-Stevens Point in the regular season finale. In the classroom, Lewandowski has a strong record of academic success. A human performance major with a minor in sport management, Lewandowski carries a cumulative grade point average of 3.725 on a 4.0 scale. He is also a strong leader on the Warhawk football team as one of four voted by his peers as a team captain for the 2022 campaign.

The Gagliardi Trophy recognizes excellence in athletics, academics and community service. The award is named after John Gagliardi, St. John's legendary Hall of Fame head football coach who retired in 2012 with 489 career victories, the most in college football history. Gagliardi passed away in October of 2018 at the age of 91.

Four Gagliardi Trophy finalists will be released December 7 during a live broadcast on D3football.com. The winner of the 2022 Gagliardi Trophy will be announced during the week of the Stagg Bowl which is scheduled for December 16.
