No. 9 Warhawks Extend Win Streak to 11

The No. 9 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's volleyball team topped UW-Platteville 3-1 Tuesday night to win their 11th consecutive match and improve to 4-0 in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.

The Warhawks hit .258 in the contest and held a 10-6 sway in blocks leading to the victory.

The Warhawks jumped out to a quick lead and held on for a 25-17 first set win. Jenna Weinfurt (Waukesha, Wis./Catholic Memorial) hammered down three kills as UW-W hit .265 in the set. Erin McNeil (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) and Hannah Proctor (Durand, Ill./Durand) teamed up on a pair of blocks to bolster the defense.

Whitewater rattled off the first five points of set two and never trailed the rest of the way. Weinfurt led the Warhawk offense with five kills in eight attempts as UW-W outhit the Pioneers .323 to .036. Proctor continued to frustrate the UW-Platteville attackers with three more blocks in the set. The sway led Whitewater to a 25-14 win in set two.

The Pioneers opened up a 9-1 lead in set three forcing an early timeout for the Warhawks. Platteville continued to roll out of the timeout hitting over .450 in the set taking it 25-12.
The Warhawks turned the tables in set four jumping out to a 10-2 advantage forcing a Pioneer timeout. UW-W extended the lead to 17-7 forcing Platteville's second timeout before cruising to the 25-14 win.

Weinfurt led UW-W with 12 kills adding three aces. KellyAnn Sotiros (New Berlin, Wis./West Allis Hale) led all players from the service line with five aces adding 22 assists. Defensively, Proctor tallied eight blocks and Sotiros recorded 12 digs.
