The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team topped UW-Eau Claire 4-1 Saturday evening at Fiskum Field to improve to 3-1 in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conferece play.
Allie Prigge (Palatine, Ill./Fremd), the league-leader in goals and points, continues to excel offensively. She opened the scoring Saturday on a header from a pass in from
Jessica Smeltzer (Schaumburg, Ill./James B. Conant) in the 35th minute. Less than two minutes later, Prigge struck again, this time off an assist from
Jordyn Czarapata (Muskego, Wis./Muskego).
Margot Yelle (Geneva, Ill./Geneva Community) capped the scoring flurry in the 37th minute with another header off an assist from
Emily Thill (West Chicago, Ill./St. Francis).
The Blugolds got on the board in the 74th minute to round out the scoring in the contest.
Saturday marked the team's annual Play for a Cause contest. This season, the Warhawks played for The Hidden Opponent, a non-profit that advocates, educates and supports student-athlete mental health. The organization was founded in 2019 by Victoria Garrick, a former Division I athlete. Click
