The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team topped Illinois College 1-0 on a rainy night at Fiskum Field Tuesday.
The Warhawks battled against a solid Titans squad that is receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches national poll. There wasn't much offense on the cold, windy, rainy night in Whitewater until late in the contest.
In the 86th minute,
Oakley Witteck (De Pere, Wis./De Pere) was pushing forward up the middle of the field and found
Allie Prigge (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) to her right. Prigge went one-on-one with an IWU defender on the right side of the box throwing a bit of a fake to her left and coming back to her right with a fantastic touch that had her behind the defender. One timing off the touch with her right, Prigge slid the ball passed the goalkeeper into the lower left corner for the game-winner.
Jude Dobrinska (Milwaukee, Wis./Ronald Reagan College Prep) registered a pair of saves in the complete game in net for the Warhawks.
UW-W, currently third in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings, returns to league action Saturday hosting UW-Eau Claire. The Blugolds are 1-1 in conference play holding fourth in the league standings.
