The No. 11 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater wrestling team finished sixth out of 29 teams on Friday and Saturday at the Pete Willson-Wheaton Invitational in Wheaton, Ill.
 
The Warhawks amassed 74 team points, only 2.5 out of fifth place and 13 out of fourth.
 
Jaritt Shinhoster (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Barrington), ranked fifth in the nation by D3wrestle.com and the National Wrestling Coaches Association, took the individual title at 184 pounds, finishing with a 5-0 record with two pins, one technical fall and two major decisions. He topped Cortland's Brian Torres in the semifinal before defeating fourth-ranked Antonio McCloud of Mount St. Joseph (Ohio) in the final in a 9-0 major decision.
 
Jake Burford (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) finished as runner-up at 149 pounds. He punched his ticket to the final with an impressive 5-3 decision against Ohio Northern's Chase Sumner, who is ranked eighth in the nation by D3wrestle.com.
 
Ethan Pogorzelski (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) finished sixth at 133 pounds, dropping a pair of close decisions before being defeated in the fifth-place bout by No. 2 ranked Matt Berlin of UW-Stevens Point. Dakarai Clay (Madison, Wis./Madison East) placed seventh at 141 pounds to wrap up after a strong showing for the weekend.
 
A total of 12 wrestlers represented UW-Whitewater at the Loras Open in Dubuque, Iowa.
 
The Warhawks head to UW-Eau Claire for the Don Parker Open next Saturday, Feb. 5, at 9 a.m.
