The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's soccer team controlled possession for a majority of the match on Saturday afternoon and eventually took advantage with a late goal to post a 1-0 victory at Alma (Mich.) in a non-conference affair.
Jacob Mouille (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee) found the back of the net in the 84th minute for the contest's only goal, giving the Warhawks (2-0 overall) their second win of the season.
UW-Whitewater out-shot the Scots (0-2) by a 24-2 margin and held a 13-1 advantage on corner kicks.
Jake King (McHenry, Ill./McHenry West) picked up the win and the shutout, posting his lone save in the 88th minute to preserve the Warhawks' lead.
Mouille led the offense with five shots.
Joey Pumo (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North),
Alec Sykes (Milwaukee, Wis./West Allis Hale) and
Faizan Mohiuddin (South Elgin, Ill./St. Charles North) tallied three shots apiece.
UW-Whitewater returns to the field Wednesday at Millikin (Ill.) at 7 p.m. The team's match against Monmouth (Ill.), which was originally scheduled for Sunday, has been postponed to Sept. 21 at Fiskum Field in Whitewater.
