The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team extended its unbeaten streak against Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponents to 111 dual matches Friday with a 9-0 win against UW-Oshkosh at the Warhawk Outdoor Tennis Complex.
The Warhawks (4-0 overall, 1-0 WIAC) got off to a fast start in doubles and didn't look back.
Bryce Bigelow (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) and
Madalyn Bigelow (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) were first on the board with an 8-2 triumph at No. 3 doubles.
Kellie Ha (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) and
Bethany Marshall (Cary, Ill./Cary-Grove) followed with an 8-0 victory at No. 2, and
Autumn Bruno (Milwaukee, Wis./Greenfield Whitnall) and
Cassie Lee (Downers Grove, Ill./Timothy Christian) finished the doubles sweep with an 8-2 win at No. 1.
Molly Rueth (Wheaton, Ill./Glenbard West) collected a 6-0, 6-0 shutout at No. 4 singles to give UW-Whitewater a four-point lead, and
Gianna Nikoleit (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community) clinched the match at No. 1 with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph.
Courtney Day (Oshkosh, Wis./North),
Olivia Kraft (Bloomington, Ill./Normal Community) and
Sarah Ferguson (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) were next to finish at the third, second and sixth positions, respectively, with identical 6-0, 6-0 victories.
Madalyn Bigelow (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) completed the match with a 6-2, 6-2 win at the fifth position.
The Warhawks host the 50th annual Warhawk Invitational Saturday starting at 9 a.m.
