The No. 10 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater volleyball team turned in an efficient offensive performance on the road Tuesday night in a 25-15, 25-20, 25-9 victory at St. Norbert in a non-conference match in De Pere, Wis.
The Warhawks (12-1 overall) committed only eight attack errors in the match, including just one in the first set and two in the third, and hit .280 while holding the Green Knights to a minus-.017.
Kirsten Anderson (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) led the balanced attack with seven kills on a .600 hitting percentage to go with two blocks and two digs.
Jenna Weinfurt (Waukesha, Wis./Catholic Memorial) posted seven kills, five digs and three blocks, while
Morgan Wardall (Merrill, Wis./Merrill) totaled six kills on a .357 hitting percentage with three blocks and one dig.
Baylie Hansen (Bonduel, Wis./Shawano) collected six kills on a .545 hitting percentage, and
Emma Aske (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) recorded four kills, five digs and one block.
KellyAnn Sotiros (New Berlin, Wis./West Allis Hale) and
Paige Manssen (Bull Valley, Ill./McHenry West) tallied 15 assists apiece. Sotiros finished with a double-double for the match, adding 12 digs and one service ace.
Morgan Jensen (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) led the defense with 16 digs to go with three aces and two assists.
Hailey Mackenthun (Webster, Minn./Northfield) contributed seven digs and one ace.
UW-Whitewater made mini-runs on Weinfurt's, Manssen's and Aske's serves early in the first set to take a 12-7 advantage. A run on Mackenthun's serve later in the period made it 20-10, and the Warhawks scored the final two points of the set to take a 1-0 lead.
St. Norbert (8-9) led 9-3 in the second set, but UW-Whitewater stormed back. Trailing 12-6, UW-W posted an 11-2 run on the serves of Aske and Jensen to take a 17-14 advantage.
The Green Knights rallied to tie the set at 17-17, but the Warhawks scored the next three points and never trailed on their way to a 2-0 match lead.
UW-Whitewater jumped out to a big lead in the third set and didn't look back.
The Warhawks return to Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Friday as they host UW-River Falls. First serve is set for 7 p.m. at Russell Arena.
