The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's track and field teams competed in four events Thursday on the first day of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Irwin Belk Track in Greensboro, N.C.
Freshman
Gracie Holland (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) of the women's team started the day for UW-Whitewater, tying for 13th in the pole vault with a height of 11-03.75 (3.45 meters).
For the men,
Thomas Kelly (Brown Deer, Wis./Brown Deer),
Dwayne Ford (Racine, Wis./Case),
Victor Rinaldi (Medford, Wis./Medford) and Shelvin Garrett combined for an 11th-place finish in the 4x100-meter relay. The group posted a time of 41.65 in the race.
Adam Schommer (Freedom, Wis./Freedom) tied for 12th in the pole vault with a mark of 15-01.00 (4.60 meters), and
David Fassbender (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) capped the day for the Warhawks with an 11th-place showing in the 10,000-meter run in a time of 31:07.26.
The UW-Whitewater men continue action Friday starting at 2:30 p.m. Central Time with
Josh Krystosek (Palmyra, Wis./Palmyra-Eagle) in the high jump.
Dwayne Ford (Racine, Wis./Case) competes in the 100-meter dash preliminaries at 2:45 p.m., and
Christian Patzka (Black Earth, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) races in the 3,000-meter steeplechase starting at 3:45 p.m.
