Men, Women Post Final Marks at Last Chance Meets

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's track and field teams competed at the UW-La Crosse NCAA Final Qualifier Wednesday and the Augustana (Ill.) Twilight Qualifier Thursday in last chance meets prior to next week's NCAA Outdoor Championships.
 
On Thursday at Augustana, Christian Patzka (Black Earth, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) improved his career best in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a 9:10.01, which ranks among the top 10 in the nation. He crossed the finish line first in the race with his performance.
 
Justin Krause (Ixonia, Wis./Pewaukee) scored a personal record time in the 1,500-meter run, tallying a 3:51.17 to place fourth. His performances ranks among the top 25 in NCAA Division III.
 
On Wednesday at UW-La Crosse, David Fassbender (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) won the 5,000-meter run with a season-best 14:32.49, which ranks inside the nation's top 20 in the event.
 
Adam Schommer (Freedom, Wis./Freedom) tied for third in the pole vault with a personal record height of 15-11.25 (4.86 meters), good for a top 15 mark in the nation.
 
The men's 4x100-meter relay team of Thomas Kelly (Brown Deer, Wis./Brown Deer), Dwayne Ford (Racine, Wis./Case), Victor Rinaldi (Medford, Wis./Medford) and Shelvin Garrett placed second in the race with a season-best 40.97, which ranks among the top five in NCAA Division III.
 
The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Will Kaashagen (Cambridge, Wis./Cambridge), Oren Henderson-Zintz (Madison, Wis./La Follette), Zach Miller (Saukville, Wis./Port Washington) and Luke Zanis (St. Charles, Ill./North) ran a season-best time of 3:18.17.
 
On the women's side, Maddie Keifer (Maple Park, Ill./Kaneland) collected a career-best distance of 37-07.75 (11.47 meters) in the triple jump to finish fourth in the event.
 
Qualifiers for next week's NCAA Outdoor Championships, which begin Thursday in Greensboro, N.C., will be announced Saturday via press release on NCAA.com.
