Men, Women Fourth at UW-Platteville

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's track and field teams each placed fourth Friday at the UW-Platteville Border Battle.
 
The men totaled 119.5 points, while the women finished with 81 points.
 
For the women, Maddie Keifer (Maple Park, Ill./Kaneland) tallied a personal record of 37-05.75 (11.42 meters) in the triple jump, finishing first in the event. Gracie Holland (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) tied for first in the pole vault with her height of 11-09.00 (3.58 meters).
 
Sarah Niehueser (Fond du Lac, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran Academy) finished as runner-up in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:23.18, while Kenni Czarnecki (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) placed second in the hammer throw with a distance of 159-09 (48.69 meters). Abigail Missiaen (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) recorded a career-best distance of 17-05.25 (5.31 meters) in the long jump to earn a runner-up finish.
 
Michelle Siciliano (Geneva, Ill./Geneva), Shelby Nickels (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln), Kylie Jacobs (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) and Jacqueline Kornowski (Green Bay, Wis./Preble) combined for a team season-best time of 49.89 in the 4x100-meter relay, good for second place. Ari De La Cerda (Milwaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) finished third in the 1,500-meter run in a season-best time of 4:53.31.
 
Lucas Skaaland (Westby, Wis./Westby), Shelvin Garrett and Curtis Pfeil (West Bend, Wis./West) each entered the top 20 in the nation in the triple jump. Skaaland registered a career-best distance of 47-11.25 (14.61 meters), good for second at the meet. Garrett finished third with his personal record of 47-10.00 (14.58 meters), and Pfeil collected a season-best 46-08.75 (14.24 meters).
 
Daustin Martin (Jefferson, Wis./Jefferson) registered a personal record in the hammer throw to move into the top 15 in the nation in the event with a toss of 178-02 (54.30 meters), good for third place.
 
Event winners included Oren Henderson-Zintz (Madison, Wis./La Follette), Josh Krystosek (Palmyra, Wis./Palmyra-Eagle) and Nate Fox (East Troy, Wis./East Troy). Henderson-Zintz claimed the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.02 seconds, while Fox crossed the finish line first in the 1,500-meter run in 4:02.94.
 
Krystosek, who ranks among the top five in the nation in the high jump, posted a height of 6-09.00 (2.06 meters).
 
Runners-up included Andrew Lohse (Dixon, Ill./Dixon) in the 800-meter run (1:57.59), Adam Schommer (Freedom, Wis./Freedom) in the pole vault (14-06.75 / 14.44 meters), Curtis Pfeil (West Bend, Wis./West) in the javelin throw (166-03 / 50.67 meters), and the 4x100-meter relay team of Thomas Kelly (Brown Deer, Wis./Brown Deer), Dwayne Ford (Racine, Wis./Case), Victor Rinaldi (Medford, Wis./Medford) and Garrett (42.08).
 
The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships Presented by Culver's begin next Friday, May 7, at UW-River Falls.
