The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis team earned the first-ever New Jersey Athletic Conference West Division championship Sunday afternoon with a 9-0 victory over UW-La Crosse in a dual at Wangerin Courts.

The Warhawks (9-1 overall, 2-0 NJAC), who have now won eight straight duals, edged UW-Eau Claire 5-4 on Saturday to set up the opportunity to clinch the title on Sunday afternoon. UW-W joined the NJAC as an affiliate member in April 2019.

Parker Hearne (Roscoe, Ill./Hononegah) and Cole Lindwall (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) combined for an 8-3 win at No. 3, and Noah Guillermo (Muskego, Wis./Marquette University HS) and Ryan Mitchell (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) put together an 8-6 victory at No. 2 to complete the doubles sweep.

Gray didn't surrender a game on his way to a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at No. 2 singles, and Lindwall clinched the dual with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3.

Mitchell collected a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the fourth position, and Macey compiled a 6-4, 6-1 triumph at the first position. Brendan Pietila (Sussex, Wis./Arrowhead) gave UW-W an 8-0 advantage with a 6-4, 6-0 win at the fifth position.

Brayden Kopp (Roselle, Ill./Bellbrook (Ohio)) finished the dual, recovering from a first-set loss for a 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-6) victory at No. 6.

The Warhawks wrap up the regular season this week, taking on a pair of national powerhouses. UW-Whitewater travels to Chicago Wednesday for a 3 p.m. dual, and takes on Washington-St. Louis Saturday at 2 p.m. in Bettendorf, Iowa.
