The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis team claimed its sixth straight dual win Sunday by a 7-2 score at Coe (Iowa).
The Warhawks (7-1 overall) earned two of three doubles points before capturing five of six singles matches to secure the victory.
Noah Guillermo (Muskego, Wis./Marquette University HS) and
Cole Lindwall (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) registered an 8-3 triumph at No. 2 doubles.
Parker Hearne (Roscoe, Ill./Hononegah) and
Brayden Kopp (Roselle, Ill./Bellbrook (Ohio)) picked up an 8-4 win to give UW-W a 2-0 advantage.
After dropping their final doubles match, the Warhawks rebounded quickly as
Brendan Pietila (Sussex, Wis./Arrowhead) recorded a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles.
Ryan Mitchell (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) clinched the dual with a 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 triumph at the third singles position.
Lindwall tallied a 6-7 (6), 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2, and Guillermo added another point with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 6. Kopp finished the day with a 7-6 (3), 1-6, 1-0 (14-12) triumph at No. 5.
UW-Whitewater hosts fellow New Jersey Athletic Conference affiliate member UW-Eau Claire Saturday at Wangerin Courts. First serve is slated for 2 p.m.
