The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team was defeated 7-2 against Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) in a dual contested at Winona Tennis Center in Winona, Minn.
Playing without three of its regulars in the lineup, the Warhawks (1-4 overall) were unable to secure a doubles match and were topped in four of six singles matches.
Bethany Marshall (Cary, Ill./Cary-Grove) put UW-Whitewater on the board with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles.
Molly Rueth (Wheaton, Ill./Glenbard West) posted a 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3 singles to tally the Warhawks' other team point.
Kasey Schlicht (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) and
Madalyn Bigelow (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) forced third-set super tiebreakers before falling just short at the first and sixth singles positions, respectively.
The Warhawks face Division I Milwaukee this Sunday at 1 p.m. at Elite Sports Club – River Glen in Milwaukee.
