The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis team took two of three doubles matches and held on in singles play Saturday for a 5-4 victory at North Central (Ill.) in a dual played at Benet Academy in Lisle, Ill.
Noah Guillermo (Muskego, Wis./Marquette University HS) and
Cole Lindwall (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) put the Warhawks (5-1 overall) on the board with an 8-4 triumph at No. 2 doubles.
Alex Gray (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) and
Ryan Mitchell (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) doubled UW-W's team output with an 8-6 win.
UW-Whitewater split the six singles contests. Lindwall recorded a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the second position, and
Brendan Pietila (Sussex, Wis./Arrowhead) collected a 6-1, 6-4 triumph at No. 4.
Brayden Kopp (Roselle, Ill./Bellbrook (Ohio)) tallied a 6-3, 6-2 win at the fifth slot.
The Warhawks play their fifth straight College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin opponent next Saturday, March 27, as they take on Wheaton (Ill.). First serve at Wangerin Courts is slated for 2 p.m.
