The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team picked up its second straight non-conference victory Friday night, defeating North Central (Ill.) 7-2 in a dual at Lake Geneva Tennis in Lake Geneva.
The Warhawks (3-5) picked up two doubles points before taking five of the six singles matches.
Sabrina Palavra (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) and
Kasey Schlicht (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) teamed up at No. 1 doubles for an 8-1 triumph to start the dual on a high note for UW-Whitewater.
Molly Rueth (Wheaton, Ill./Glenbard West) and
Courtney Day (Oshkosh, Wis./North) earned an 8-5 win at the No. 3 position to give the team its second point.
Olivia Kraft (Bloomington, Ill./Normal Community) posted a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles to make it 3-1. Schlicht followed suit at the top spot in straight sets with a 7-6 (4), 6-1 triumph, and Palavra overcame a first-set loss for a 2-6, 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4 to clinch the dual for UW-W.
Paige Nierman (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Stevenson) split her first two sets before picking up the decisive set for a 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 victory at No. 2.
Jessica Minkov (Schiller Park, Ill./East Leyden) closed the dual with a 6-1, 6-2 win.
The Warhawks head to Eau Claire next Sunday, March 28, for a dual against Bethel (Minn.). First serve at Eau Claire's YMCA is set for 2 p.m.
