The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's track and field teams combined to win 16 individual events Friday against UW-Platteville in a dual meet at Kachel Fieldhouse inside the Williams Center.
Gracie Holland (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) starred for the women, winning both the pole vault and the long jump with career-best performances. Her height of 11-08.50 (3.57 meters) on pole vault currently ranks No. 2 in NCAA Division III, while her long jump mark of 18-03.25 (5.57 meters) currently ranks among the nation's top 10.
Maddie Keifer (Maple Park, Ill./Kaneland) shattered her personal record in the triple jump with a first-place mark of 37-02.25 (11.33 meters), good for a top 10 national ranking.
Other event winners included
Kylie Jacobs (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) in the 200-meter dash (27.44),
Ari De La Cerda (Milwaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) in the 1-mile run (5:28.15),
Brooke Walling (Camp Douglas, Wis./Mauston) in the high jump (5-00.25 / 1.53 meters) and
Kenni Czarnecki (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) in both the shot put (39-10.75 / 12.16 meters) and weight throw (48-10.00 / 14.88 meters).
For the men,
Dwayne Ford (Racine, Wis./Case) ran the lone sub-seven second time in the 60-meter dash of the night with a 6.95.
Connor Murphy (Mazomanie, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) won the 400-meter dash in 53.09 seconds, and
Andrew Lohse (Dixon, Ill./Dixon) took the 800-meter run in 1:58.35.
Conner Hackett (Darlington, Wis./Darlington) placed first in the 1-mile run in 4:31.93.
Josh Krystosek (Palmyra, Wis./Palmyra-Eagle) claimed the high jump with a season-best 6-07.50 (2.02 meters), good for a top-10 national height, and
Chris Bitz (Brookfield, Wis./East) achieved his personal record height in the pole vault for the second straight meet with a winning mark of 14-06.00 (4.42 meters).
Thomas Kelly (Brown Deer, Wis./Brown Deer) and
Lucas Skaaland (Westby, Wis./Westby) placed first in the long jump and triple jump, respectively. Kelly tallied a distance of 22-05.25 (6.84 meters), while Skaaland continued his strong season with a 46-10.25 (14.28 meters).
David Fassbender (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) won the 5,000-meter run Thursday at the WIAC Multis in Stevens Point. His time of 14:33.83 currently leads the conference and ranks third in NCAA Division III after adjustment for track size.
The UW-Whitewater Last Chance Meet is slated for Saturday, March 6, at 12 p.m. inside Kachel Fieldhouse.
