The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team will compete in the NCAA Division III Championship for the 14th time in the last 16 seasons and 17th time in program history starting this Saturday, Nov. 20, as it hosts Greenville (Ill.) in the first round at Perkins Stadium at 12 p.m.
The Warhawks (10-0 overall) earned a Pool A, or automatic, bid to the 32-team national tournament. The team won the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship, the program's league-leading 38th conference title, to secure the NCAA berth.
UW-Whitewater was ranked first in the NCAA's Region VI and third in the nation by both D3football.com and the American Football Coaches Association last week.
Greenville (8-2) is also a Pool A qualifier after winning the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) championship with a 47-21 victory against Minnesota Morris on Saturday. The Panthers are making their first-ever appearance in the NCAA Playoffs.
