Women’s Tennis Wraps Up Play at Warhawk Fall Invite

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team earned four top-two finishes in singles play Saturday at the Warhawk Fall Invitational at the Warhawk Outdoor Tennis Complex and surrounding facilities.
 
The tournament field of eight teams included six scholarship programs.
 
Gianna Nikoleit (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community) and Olivia Kraft (Bloomington, Ill./Normal Community) reached the finals at the Nos. 3 and 4 draws, respectively. Nikoleit downed Lewis and St. Francis on her way to the championship match, where she was topped by top-seeded Northern Illinois. Kraft tallied straight-set wins against Lewis and St. Francis before falling in the final against Northern Illinois.
 
Other runners-up included Bryce Bigelow (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) at the No. 7 bracket and MacKenzie Lindow (East Troy, Wis./East Troy) at No. 8. Bigelow earned victories against Roosevelt and Cardinal Stritch before suffering her first loss of the weekend against Carleton (Minn.) in the final.
 
Lindow earned a bye to the semifinals at No. 8, where she collected a 6-4, 6-2 triumph against Lewis. She was defeated in her final against Carleton (Minn.).
 
Cassie Lee (Downers Grove, Ill./Timothy Christian) claimed the consolation title at No. 2. She fell against Northern Illinois in her opening match before topping Cardinal Stritch players in consecutive matches.
 
Courtney Day (Oshkosh, Wis./North) won the consolation championship at No. 5 with victories against Lewis and Roosevelt. Madalyn Bigelow (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) also claimed the consolation title at No. 7 with wins against St. Francis and Roosevelt.
 
The Warhawks host UW-Stout next Saturday, Oct. 16, at 12 p.m. at the Warhawk Outdoor Tennis complex. Lee and Autumn Bruno (Milwaukee, Wis./Greenfield Whitnall) are set to compete in the doubles draw at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Cup Oct. 14-17 in Rome, Ga.
