The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team concluded the regular season in a tie for third place in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings, the program's 10th top-three finish in the last 11 seasons, following a 3-0 loss at UW-La Crosse.

The Warhawks (13-6 overall, 4-3 WIAC) will host UW-Eau Claire in the first round of the WIAC Tournament this Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Fiskum Field.

UW-Whitewater held a 12-9 advantage in shots, including a 4-3 edge in shots on goal. The Warhawks took the first two shots of the match in the fifth and seventh minutes.

The Eagles (13-3-2, 6-1) found the back of the net in the 16th minute for a 1-0 lead.

Anna Brodjian (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) took the next two shots for UW-W, including the first shot on goal in the 22nd minute.

The two teams traded possession over the next 20-plus minutes before UW-La Crosse doubled its lead to 2-0 with a goal in the 44th minute.

The Eagles took a three-goal lead just under four minutes into the second half on a penalty kick.

UW-Whitewater put two shots on frame over a six-minute span, but was unable to cut into the deficit.

The Warhawks out-shot the Eagles 5-1 over the final 30 minutes.

UW-Whitewater is the defending conference tournament champion. The winner of Tuesday's match advances to Thursday's semifinal round to face either No. 1 seed UW-Oshkosh or second-seeded UW-La Crosse.
