Women’s Soccer Drops WIAC Match

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team scored the first goal Wednesday night but was unable to sustain the lead in a 4-1 loss against UW-Oshkosh in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match at Fiskum Field.

Olivia May (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn Area) found the back of the net in the 15th minute for her seventh goal of the year to give the Warhawks (11-5 overall, 3-2 WIAC) a 1-0 advantage.

The Titans (12-2-1, 5-0) leveled the match in the 23rd minute and took the lead for good in the 33rd.

UW-Whitewater attempted a pair of shots and a corner kick over the next 10 minutes before UW-Oshkosh doubled its lead to 3-1 with a goal in the final minute of the first half.

Anna Brodjian (Barrington, Ill./Barrington), who finished the contest with three shots, including two on goal, put a shot on goal two minutes into the second half. UW-W maintained its aggressiveness over the next five minutes with three corner kicks during that span.

Anna Boyd (De Pere, Wis./De Pere) put a shot on goal in the 66th minute, and Emily Thill (West Chicago, Ill./St. Francis) came up empty on a pair of shots in the 71st minute. The Titans earned a penalty kick in the 73rd minute, but UW-W goalkeeper Lilly Horne (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore) made the save to keep the deficit at two.

UW-Oshkosh scored in the 82nd minute to account for the final margin. Brodjian and Boyd each attempted shots in the final eight minutes.

Horne collected three saves in her 90 minutes of action. The Warhawks and Titans each attempted 10 shots in the contest, while UW-W held a 10-4 advantage in corner kicks.

UW-Whitewater continues conference play this Saturday as it hosts UW-Stout. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. at Fiskum Field.
