The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team concluded the fall regular season Saturday with its final tune-up prior to next weekend's Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship, an 8-1 triumph against UW-Stout at the Warhawk Outdoor Tennis Complex.
The Warhawks (10-0 overall, 6-0 WIAC), who have now defeated conference opponents in 116 straight duals, took all three doubles matches for an early 3-0 lead.
Bryce Bigelow (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) and
Madalyn Bigelow (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) were first on the board from the third position, recording an 8-0 win.
Molly Rueth (Wheaton, Ill./Glenbard West) and
Courtney Day (Oshkosh, Wis./North) combined for an 8-4 victory at the second position, and
Olivia Kraft (Bloomington, Ill./Normal Community) and
Kellie Ha (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-2 triumph at the first position.
MacKenzie Lindow (East Troy, Wis./East Troy) started UW-W in singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6.
Madalyn Bigelow (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) clinched the match for the Warhawks with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 4.
Bryce Bigelow (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) finished next with a 6-4, 6-1 triumph at No. 5, while Kraft compiled a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 2.
Gianna Nikoleit (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community) recovered from a first-set loss for a 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-2) victory at the No. 1 slot.
The WIAC Championship presented by Culver's is set for Oct. 23-24 at Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison. UW-Whitewater seeks its 15th consecutive league title.
