The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis team collected two impressive victories on Saturday at Lake Geneva Tennis, downing No. 38 ranked Carleton (Minn.) 5-4 before finishing the day with a 9-0 triumph over Illinois Tech.
The Warhawks (3-1 overall) handed the Knights their first loss, collecing two of three matches in doubles and splitting the six singles spots on their way to a big win.

Zach Wood (Downers Grove, Ill./South) paired with freshman
Danila Borovykh (Ryazan, Russia/Boca Prep International School (Fla.)) for an 8-7 (5) triumph at No. 2 doubles. Sophomores
Noah Guillermo (Muskego, Wis./Marquette University HS) and
Ryan Mitchell (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) were also victorious in a tiebreaker at 8-7 (1) at the third position.

Rory Calabria (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) put UW-Whitewater on the board in singles play with a 6-4, 6-1 triumph at No. 3. Borovykh recorded a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 4, and freshman
Cole Lindwall (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-7 (4), 6-2 victory at No. 5.
Against Illinois Tech (1-3), the Warhawks dropped a combined eight games in a doubles sweep. Borovykh and sophomore
Alex Gray (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) combined for an 8-3 win at No. 1. Calabria and Wood posted an 8-3 triumph at No. 2, and Guillermo and Lindwall registered an 8-2 victory at No. 3.

Brendan Pietila (Sussex, Wis./Arrowhead) (No. 4), Wood (No. 5) and Guillermo (No. 6) all earned straight-set wins in singles play. Calabria (No. 3) was victorious in three sets after dropping the second.
UW-Whitewater returns to action next Friday and Saturday at the Warhawk Invite at Lake Geneva Tennis. Other participating teams include Grinnell (Iowa), Luther (Iowa) and Wheaton (Ill.).
