The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis team closed the two-day Warhawk Invite Saturday afternoon with a 7-2 triumph over Luther (Iowa) at Lake Geneva Tennis.
The Warhawks (6-1 overall) swept all three doubles spots for a 3-0 match lead. Seniors
Rory Calabria (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) and
Zach Wood (Downers Grove, Ill./South) were first to finish, tallying an 8-1 victory at the No. 2 slot. Sophomores
Noah Guillermo (Muskego, Wis./Marquette University HS) and
Ryan Mitchell (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) doubled the UW-W lead with an 8-4 win at No. 3, and sophomore
Alex Gray (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) and freshman
Danila Borovykh (Ryazan, Russia/Boca Prep International School (Fla.)) completed the sweep with an 8-5 triumph at No. 1.

Cole Lindwall (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) quickly clinched the match with victories at the fourth and fifth singles positions, respectively. Borovykh registered a 6-1, 6-0 win, and Lindwall earned the decisive fifth point with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout.
Mitchell collected a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles, and sophomore
Brendan Pietila (Sussex, Wis./Arrowhead) added another point for the Warhawks with a 6-3, 6-0 triumph at No. 6.
Luther dropped to 3-3 with the loss.
UW-Whitewater concludes its run of eight straight home duals next weekend at Lake Geneva Tennis. The Warhawks host Carthage on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 1 p.m. and Wabash (Ind.) on Sunday, Feb. 23, at 10 a.m.
