Men’s Track and Field Impresses at Second Home Meet

The No. 10 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's track and field team continued its strong start to the 2020 season Friday night at the Leonard "Squig" Converse Invitational at Kachel Fieldhouse.
 
Junior David Fassbender (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) claimed the 3,000-meter run in 8:30.05, which ranks among the top 10 in NCAA Division III. Freshman Justin Krause (Ixonia, Wis./Pewaukee) won the 1-mile run in 4:23.08.
 
Senior Zach Jasinski (Sussex, Wis./Hamilton) matched his season-best height with a 15-06.25 (4.73 meters) in the pole vault, good for first place.
 
Junior Dwayne Ford (Racine, Wis./Case) also matched his season-best mark with a 6.94 in the 60-meter dash, good for third place. Senior Alex Duff (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) made his season debut in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.18 seconds in the prelims, which ranks among the top 10 in the nation.
 
Junior Quinn Halversen (Rockford, Ill./Christian) recorded a season-best 6-05.00 (1.96 meters) on high jump, good for fourth place.
 
Junior Daustin Martin (Jefferson, Wis./Jefferson) was the Warhawks' top finisher in the throwing events, posting personal best distances of 50-06.25 (15.40 meters) in the shot put and 57-09.00 (17.60 meters) in the weight throw.
 
The Warhawks head to the Pointer Invitational next Saturday, Feb. 8, at 10:30 a.m. in Stevens Point, Wis.
