Geneva, Ohio -- The UW-Whitewater track and field program wrapped up competition at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships Saturday. The Warhawk women finished 22nd while the men were 50th out of more than 100 Division III programs.
The women's 4x100 paced the Warhawks Saturday with a third-place finish in the event.
Danielle Pouska (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs),
Dakota Mitchell (Sun Prairie, Wis./West),
Kelly Huerta (McHenry, Ill./) and
Cici Stennett (Barrington, Ill./) combined for a school record time of 45.55 to earn All-America honors. The UWW men's 4x100 combination of
Nick McFadden (Waukesha, Wis./Pewaukee),
Samuel Vargas (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead),
Andy VanZile (New Berlin, Wis./West) and
Caleb Beightol (Belgium, Wis./Cedar Grove-Belgium) also earned All-America honors with an eighth-place time of 41.33.
Beightol was back in action for the 100-meter dash. The sprinter crossed the line in 10.48, taking eighth and securing his second All-America honor of the day. On the women's side, it was Mitchell with the short break from the relay to the 100. The freshman stopped the clock in 11.87 to take eighth and also secure All-America honors.
Vargas returned to the track for the 200. He also claimed a second All-America honor on the day with a seventh place time of 21.34.
Kenni Czarnecki (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) secured Second Team All-America honors with her hammer throw mark of 51.21 meters (168-11) to finish 12th.
Dan Anderson (Eau Claire, Wis./McDonell) represented UW-Whitewater in the final event of the championship featuring a Warhawk, the 5000. Anderson crossed the line in 15:05.25 to take 22nd.
