Gunner Schlender (Brillion, Wis./Brillion) was named to the 2024-25 Academic All-America First Team by the College Sports Communicators. The Academic All-Americans are selected by the CSC, recognizing student athletes that stand out both in the field and in the classroom.
Schlender graduated in May 2025 with a degree in physical education with certificates in adaptive physical education, health and coaching. He finished with a 4.0 grade point average.Â
Gunner Schlender (Brillion, Wis./Brillion) reached the pinnacle of both academic and athletic success during his time at UW-Whitewater. He was named the NCAA Elite 90 twice during his career and was named All-American 12 times for his athletic accomplishments in cross country and track.Â
During his time at UW-Whitewater Schlender was a member of the Wisconsin Health and Physical Educational organization, as well as UW-Whitewater's Health and P.E. Majors Club and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. On campus, he has worked as a wellness peer educator and building supervisor.
