The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team pushed its streak of dual wins over Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponents to 98 and swept a non-conference, in-region foe Sunday at Wangerin Courts.

The Warhawks (3-0 overall, 2-0 WIAC) topped UW-River Falls by a 9-0 score, and bested Illinois Tech by the same margin.

Against UW-River Falls (1-2, 0-1), UW-Whitewater dropped only two games in doubles to set the tone for the match. Sophomore Molly Rueth (Wheaton, Ill./Glenbard West) teamed with freshman Megan Setter (Kenosha, Wis./St. Joseph Catholic Academy) for an 8-2 triumph at No. 1, and sophomore Olivia Kraft (Bloomington, Ill./Normal Community) and freshman Courtney Day (Oshkosh, Wis./North) combined for an 8-0 win at No. 2. Sophomores Bryce Bigelow (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) and Elsie Ha (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-0 victory at the third position.

Rueth, Bigelow and junior Sabrina Palavra (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) didn't lose a game in singles, each posting 6-0, 6-0 wins at the Nos. 6, 5 and 2 positions, respectively. Day fell in only one game in a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at No. 4, and senior Madeline Slicker (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) earned a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 3. Junior Paige Nierman (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Stevenson) collected a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 1.

In the match against Illinois Tech (2-4), the Warhawks took all three doubles matches for another 3-0 start. Nierman and Palavra recorded an 8-2 victory at the top spot, and Bryce Bigelow (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) and Madalyn Bigelow (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) teamed up for an 8-3 triumph at the second spot. Slicker and sophomore Jessica Minkov (Schiller Park, Ill./East Leyden) emerged with an 8-2 win at the third slot.

Ha shut out her opponent at No. 4 singles (6-0, 6-0) to clinch the match. Other singles winners included Nierman at No. 1, Kraft at No. 2, Minkov at No. 3, Setter at No. 5 and Madalyn Bigelow (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) at No. 6.

UW-Whitewater hits the road next weekend for trips to UW-Eau Claire and UW-La Crosse. The Warhawks face the Blugolds Friday at 6:45 p.m. at John and Fay Menard YMCA Tennis Center and take on the Eagles Saturday at 10 a.m.
