Tampa Bay Buccaneers Release

Former University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football standout Nate Trewyn (Janesville, Wis./Milton) has been signed to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' practice squad, the organization announced over the weekend.

Trewyn, a center for the Warhawks from 2016-18, was one of seven players signed Sunday by the Bucs to the team's 10-player practice squad after he did not make the 53-man roster. He was originally signed as an undrafted free agent in April immediately following the National Football League Draft.

Trewyn, who played in all four of the Bucs' preseason games, claimed first team All-America honors from the Associated Press and D3football.com as well as second team accolades from the American Football Coaches Association. He earned the Rimington Award as the top center in NCAA Division III.

After completing his 2018 season, when he helped UW-Whitewater win the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship and reach the national semifinals, Trewyn played in the NFL Players Association Collegiate Bowl in January. He was one of 112 draft-eligible seniors selected to compete and the only representative from a Division III school.

A three-year starter, Trewyn garnered UW-Whitewater Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete honors and was a semifinalist for the National Football Foundation's William V. Campbell trophy as the nation's top scholar-athlete.
