Men's Soccer Suffers First Loss of Season

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's soccer team faced their first loss of the season after No. 8 Luther College won the match by a score of 3-2 in Decorah, Iowa.

The Warhawks dipped to 10-1-1, while the Norse improved to 6-1-1.

Whitewater was first to score a goal in the game, as Brad Ludwig's (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) corner kick led to Garrett Morgando's (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) being able to head it into the net for a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute. This was Morgando's first goal of the season.

Luther answered back in the 14th minute, as a rebound from Jake King (McHenry, Ill./McHenry West) was able to find its way to the low, right portion of the net.

The rest of the half would stay at 1-1, as neither team was able to record any shots on goal.

Luther attacked early in the second half, recording their second goal of the game in the 51st minute after a Whitewater foul led to a free kick.

The Norse scored their third goal just minutes later, as a corner kick led to a goal in the 53rd minute.

Brad Ludwig (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) would have scored a goal in the 61st minute, but Whitewater was called offsides and the game remained at 3-1 in favor of Luther.

After a foul on Luther in the 81st minute, Carlos Mondejar (Madrid, Spain/Logos International School) took the free kick and Jalen Holley (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa East) was able to head it to the back of the net.

Trevor Johnson (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) recorded a shot on goal with just seconds left, but was unable to get it past the goalkeeper. The game would end with a final score of 3-2.
