The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team reached double overtime in Saturday's match at Millikin University. Despite the extra 20 minutes, neither team was able to score, and the match ended in a 1-1 tie.

This was both team's second tie in their respective seasons. The Warhawks move to 2-4-2 as Millikin shifts to 2-3-2.

Millikin recorded their first goal in the 24th minute after a goal kick from UW-W was kept on their side of the field. Millikin's offense was able to get inside and score for a 1-0 lead.Â

Possession of the first half appeared to be in favor of the Big Blue, as they recorded five shots and kept the ball on Whitewater's side.

UW-W turned up the heat in the second half, controlling the game and recording 10 shots. Similar to Millikin's goal, the Warhawks were able to take advantage of a short goal kick.
Katy Kusswurm (South Elgin, Ill./St. Charles North) scored unassisted to tie the game at 1-1.

Neither team was able to capitalize on any opportunities to win the game, forcing them into overtime play.

In the first extra ten minutes,
Anna Brodjian (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) and
Anna Boyd (De Pere, Wis./De Pere) recorded shots on goal, but were unable to find the back of the net.

Brodjian and Boyd recorded an additional two shots on goal in the second overtime, but the match would end as a tie game.

The Warhawks game was highlighted by their shooting as they outshot Millikin 17-7, including 11-4 on goal.

UW-Whitewater will host Ripon College on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
