Men's Soccer Records Third Shutout in Three Days

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's soccer team defeated Olivet College at home 6-0. This marks their third shut-out game in the last three days.

Sunday's game extended the team's current winning streak to 14 games, the longest in program history. The previous record was set in 2005 with 12 wins.

The Warhawks improve their season record to 8-0 while the Comets drop to 3-3.

Four UW-W goals were recorded in the first 24 minutes of the game. The first came in the ninth minute as Hozai Ceballos (Janesville, Wis./Janesville Craig) was able to head a corner kick from Mario Carini. The second goal came just minutes later, as Evan Donini (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West) was able to kick the cross from Hozai Ceballos (Janesville, Wis./Janesville Craig) to the back of the net in the 13th minute.

Ceballos scored his second goal of the day after the Olivet's yellow card led to a free kick just yards from the goal in the 19th minute. After fighting for possession, Brian Zimdars (Galena, Ohio/Olentangy) was able to get the ball to Ceballos for a 3-0 lead.

The fourth and final goal of the first half came from Steven Wright (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake) in the 24th minute with an assist from Jalen Holley (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa East).

The second half of the game would prove to be much slower as the Warhawks were only able to score an additional two goals. Yoshihiko Fukushima (Janesville, Wis./Janesville Craig) scored the team's fifth in the 64th minute with an assist from Joey Pumo (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North).

The final goal of the day came from Ben Weltzien (Green Bay, Wis./Green Bay Preble) with assists from Henry Raymonds (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield East) and Carlos Mondejar (Madrid, Spain/Logos International School) for quick action into the back of the net in the 74th minute. The game would end with a score of 6-0.

UW-Whitewater will head to Decatur, Ill. on Wednesday for a game against Millikin at 7 p.m.
