2019 D3football.com Preseason All-America team
Two members of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team earned spots on the 2019 D3football.com Preseason All-America team.
Junior running back
Alex Peete (Ringwood, Ill./Johnsburg) garnered first team accolades, while junior offensive lineman
Quinn Meinerz (Hartford, Wis./Hartford Union) earned second team honors. Both players helped the 2018 Warhawks finish with a 13-1 record, including a 7-0 mark in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and claim the conference championship and a trip to the national semifinals.
Peete was named second team All-America and first team All-West Region by D3football.com and first team All-WIAC in 2018 after totaling 252 carries for 1,368 yards and 22 touchdowns. He ranked among the top 10 in NCAA Division III in rushing touchdowns, points scored and total touchdowns.
Meinerz played all 14 games and helped UW-Whitewater lead the WIAC in scoring offense (39.2 points per game), rushing offense (240.5 yards per game) and total offense (435.8 yards per game). He was selected second team D3football.com All-West Region and first team All-WIAC.
The Warhawks open the 2019 season Sept. 7 against Dubuque (Iowa). Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. at Perkins Stadium. Pregame festivities include Senior Day approximately 30 minutes prior to game time and a free concert featuring national recording artist Jesse McCartney in Williams Center Lot 11 starting at noon.
