Track and Field Teams Host Rex Foster Twilight

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's track and field teams kicked off the 2019 outdoor season Friday by hosting the annual Rex Foster Twilight at Rex Foster Track.
 
No team scores were compiled at the meet, which included participants from Illinois College, MSOE and UW-Oshkosh.
 
Junior Zach Jasinski (Sussex, Wis./Hamilton) continued his outstanding 2019 campaign for the men with a school and facility record performance on pole vault. He posted a mark of 17-01.00 (5.21 meters), the best height in NCAA Division III to date and his best collegiate result.
 
The men's 4x100-meter relay team of junior Oren Henderson-Zintz (Madison, Wis./La Follette), sophomore Dwayne Ford (Racine, Wis./Case), junior Jake Schneider (Plymouth, Wis./Plymouth) and sophomore Tyreik Thomas (Racine, Wis./Case) finished second in a time of 41.46 seconds, which currently ranks among the top 10 in the nation.
 
Junior Landon Zimmerman (New Glarus, Wis./New Glarus) posted a top 20 national throw in the shot put at 51-00.75 (15.56 meters), good for second place at the meet.
 
Freshman Kylie Jacobs enjoyed a strong performance to lead the women, winning the 400-meter dash in 1:00.29 and placing third in the 200-meter dash in 26.79 seconds. Competing in the 800-meter run for the first time in her career, junior Abbie Felton won the race in 2:19.04.
 
The Warhawks enjoyed a strong day in field events, placing among the top three in all four jumps and each of the four throwing events. Freshman Brooke Walling claimed the high jump with a height of 4-11.75 (1.52 meters), while sophomore Sydney Davidson took the pole vault at a height of 11-02.50 (3.42 meters). Sophomore Shelby Nickels placed first in the long jump at 16-10.75 (5.15 meters), and senior Brittany Sykes won the discus throw with a toss of 130-06 (39.77 meters).
 
UW-Whitewater resumes outdoor action next Saturday, April 13, at the UW-Platteville Invitational. Events are slated to begin at 11 a.m.
