The University of Wisconsin men's tennis squad traveled to face UW-La Crosse Saturday evening. The match was moved from La Crosse to Winona, Minn., due to the potential of inclement weather.Â

The Warhawks (12-5) dominated their state rival Eagles (9-8) in an 8-1 affair for their third straight victory since returning home from their spring trip.

In doubles, the Warhawks claimed the first and third matches in dominating fashion. Senior
Jimmy Engelhart (Brookfield, Wis./East) and freshman
Alex Gray (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) emerged with an 8-2 victory in the first slot, while junior
Zach Wood (Downers Grove, Ill./South) and freshman
Noah Guillermo (Muskego, Wis./Marquette University HS) took the third slot in an 8-3 affair.

Brandon Dechter (Mundelein, Ill./Carmel Catholic) and freshman
Ryan Mitchell (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) needed a little more time to complete the doubles sweep in the second slot but came out on top with an 8-7 (7) victory.

Gray and Mitchell quickly clinched the match for the Warhawks in singles, Gray with a 6-2, 6-1 victory in the third slot and Mitchell with a 7-5, 6-1 victory in the second. Freshman
Parker Hearne (Roscoe, Ill./Hononegah)Â replaced Dechter due to injury and put up a valiant effort on short notice in the sixth slot to take a three-set victory 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.

The Warhawks will continue their Wisconsin road trip tomorrow at 10:45 a.m. against UW-Eau Claire at John & Fay Menard YMCA Tennis Center.
