University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Todd Garzarelli has accepted the same position at Indiana University Pennsylvania, Interim Chancellor Cheryl Green announced.

Garzarelli will remain in his role at UW-Whitewater until May 12.

"During Todd's tenure, Warhawk Athletics achieved success on a national level," Green wrote in an e-mail to UW-W faculty and staff. "Our teams have won gymnastics championships and multiple student-athletes across serveral sports were crowned individual NCAA champions and NCAA Athletes of the Year. Academically, more than 700 Warhawk student-athletes achieved a cumulative GPA of over 3.0, with several named WIAC Scholar-Athletes of the Year."

"Please join me in congratulating Todd on his next chapter and thanking him for his leadership and service to UW-Whitewater."

During his first year on campus in 2017-18, the Warhawks claimed five Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships, three conference tournament titles and 14 national postseason appearances, including a national championship in gymnastics. Three student-athletes earned individual national championships, two student-athletes were named National Athletes of the Year and 36 student-athletes combined for 50 All-America honors.

Outside of competition, UW-Whitewater student-athletes accumulated more than 1,500 hours of community service and more than 40 percent of student-athletes garnered WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll accolades.

Garzarelli was also involved in the oversight and management several ongoing facility projects, including renovations to Perkins Stadium and its surrounding buildings and Miller Stadium's clubhouse. He helped the department increase its revenue through fundraising and added to the department's operating budget.
