The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis team earned two more victories over regional opponents Saturday at Lake Geneva Tennis in Lake Geneva.
The Warhawks (5-1 overall) downed Wheaton (Ill.) and Grinnell (Iowa) in consecutive duals decided by a 6-3 score.
In the match against Wheaton (1-2), UW-Whitewater claimed the first and third doubles slots to grab a 2-1 advantage. Senior

Parker Hearne (Roscoe, Ill./Hononegah) put the team on the board with an 8-1 triumph at No. 3, and senior

Alex Gray (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) picked up an 8-4 win at No. 1.
Gray earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles to make it 3-1, and freshman
Ryan Mitchell (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) posted a 6-4, 6-1 triumph at the second singles position to make it 4-1. Sophomore
Robert Rider (Annapolis, Md./South River) clinched the match with a 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-5) win at No. 5.
Junior
Zach Wood (Downers Grove, Ill./South) accounted for the final margin with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at the sixth spot.
The Warhawks handed Grinnell (4-1) its first loss of the season behind a nearly identical formula of claiming two doubles matches and four singles spots.
Engelhart and Gray combined for another win at the top position, this time by an 8-3 count. Mitchell and Wood contributed an 8-5 triumph at the second slot.
Mitchell cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles, and freshman
Brendan Pietila (Sussex, Wis./Arrowhead) earned a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 4. Gray wrapped up UW-Whitewater's second victory of the day with a 6-2, 6-4 triumph at No. 3.
Engelhart played his second super tiebreaker of the day at the No. 1 position, emerging with a 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (10-7) victory.
The Warhawks will host Alumni Day next Saturday, Feb. 23, at 2 p.m. in Lake Geneva before returning to official action March 10 at Wabash (Ind.).
