Softball Releases 2020 Schedule

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater softball team has released its 2020 schedule.

The team's season will begin March 20-26 at the annual Spring Games in Clermont, Fla. The Warhawks will play 12 games during the seven-day span, including contests against fellow 2019 NCAA qualifiers Central (Iowa), Williams (Mass.), MIT (Mass.) and St. Thomas (Minn.).

Once back in Wisconsin, the Warhawks will host fellow 2019 NCAA Tournament qualifier Carthage for a double header on March 30. Their first Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference will be versus UW-Oshkosh for a doubleheader at home on April 1.

UW-Whitewater hits the road April 4-5 for the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament in Bloomington, Ill. The team will take on Fontbonne (Mo.), NCAA tournament qualifier DePauw and NCAA Championship participant Illinois Wesleyan for a four-game weekend.

The Warhawks continue home play on April 7 versus Carroll for a doubleheader before heading to UW-Platteville on April 9 and hosting UW-Stout on April 11 for WIAC doubleheaders.

Non-conference play continues on April 13 at Elmhurst before playing NCAA qualifier Lake Forest (Ill.) on April 15 at home.

UW-W travels to UW-La Crosse, a second round qualifier, on April 18 and will head to UW-Eau Claire, also a tournament qualifier, on April 19. WIAC play at home continues on April 22 versus UW-Stevens Point on April 22 and UW-River Falls on April 25.

The Warhawks close the regular season with a road game against the University of Chicago on April 26 for a doubleheader.

The WIAC Championship is set for May 1-3, and the postseason continues with the NCAA Regional on May 8-10 and Super Regional May 15-16. The NCAA Championship is slated for May 21-25 at Suddenlink Field in Tyler, Texas.

In 2019, the Warhawks finished with a 28-14 record and reached Regionals in the NCAA Tournament, where they were defeated Eureka (Ill.) and Coe (Iowa) but were bested by Carthage in two games. The team made its seventh consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament and claimed its third straight WIAC regular season championship.
