Former University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football coach Lance Leipold is 78th on ESPN's list of the 150 greatest coaches in college football history as the network celebrates the 150th anniversary of college football.

Leipold, a 1987 UW-Whitewater graduate who currently serves as head coach at the University at Buffalo, led the Warhawks to six national championships during his eight-year run as head coach from 2007-14. He posted a 109-6 record during his UW-W tenure and reached 100 career wins faster than any coach in college football history at any level (106 games).

Leipold was inducted into UW-Whitewater's Athletics Hall of Fame as a former student-athlete in 2003 and as a former coach in 2019. The former quarterback helped the Warhawks win the 1984 conference championship and ranks among the program's all-time leaders in several statistical categories.

The 150 Greatest Coaches were selected by a blue-ribbon panel of 150 media members, administrators and former players and coaches.
