The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team clinched a trip to the title match of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship (presented by Culver's) with a 3-1 win over UW-River Falls.

The Warhawks improve to 13-5-3 overall while the Falcons drop to 10-10-1.

With the victory, UW-Whitewater will host the tournament championship match against fourth-seeded UW-La Crosse on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Fiskum Field

UW-W's offense had an amazing showing in the first half, recording 18 shots, including nine on goal.

The first goal was tallied at the 53-second mark from the Warhawks. Olivia May (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn Area) had a shot on goal, and Elli Wahlberg (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) was able to use the goalkeeper's rebound to put the ball into the back of the goal.

Just about the exact same goal occurred in the third minute, when Katy Kusswurm (South Elgin, Ill./St. Charles North) tallied a shot on goal and Savannah Curtis (Lodi, Wis./Lodi) used the deflected shot to get it past the goalie.

UW-River Falls answered back in the sixth minute, putting their first point on the board.

Curtis scored her second goal of the game in the 18th minute after May was able to cross the ball in front of the net.

The defense highlighted the second half as the Warhawks limited the Falcons to just two shots.

The Warhawks tallied five shots throughout the final 45 minutes. Elizabeth Klein's (Burlington, Wis./Catholic Central) shot went wide in the 47th minute, while Wahlberg's was blocked in the 53rd minute.

Anna Brodjian (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) tallied a shot on goal in the 64th and a shot in the 72nd. Kusswurm recorded the last shot in the 80th minute. The game ended with a 3-1 score as the teams remained scoreless throughout the rest of the game.
