The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team's 11-game unbeaten streak was ended by UW-Eau Claire by a score of 2-1.

The Warhawks dip to 11-5-3 overall and 4-1-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings while the Blugolds improve to 13-5 and 4-2.

In the first half, both teams had impressive defensive showings, as the two teams were limited to a collective seven shots.

UW-Eau Claire scored first, recording a goal in the 29th minute, after finding a gap in the Warhawk defenders.
Anna Brodjian (Barrington, Ill./Barrington)Â and
Anna Boyd (De Pere, Wis./De Pere) tallied shots on goal in the 34th and 44th minutes, respectively.

UW-W earned five corner kicks compared to zero from UW-EC, but were unable to capitalize on any of the opportunities to tie up the game.

The Blugolds found their second point of the game after the ball was kicked from the far left of the field and was able to find its way into the top right corner of the box.

The Warhawk offense had a stronger showing late in the second half as they tallied four shots, including one on goal from
Madeline Ulik (West Allis, Wis./Whitnall) in the 61st minute.

UW-W was awarded a penalty kick when a Blugold was called for a hand ball inside of the box. Brodjian took the kick and was able to score in the 66th minute of the game.

Despite Brodjian's two additional shots, the Warhawks were unable to put an additional point on the board, ending the game with a 2-1 score in favor of UW-EC.

Sara Klimisch (Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Indian Trail High School and Academy) tallied four saves throughout the game.

UW-Whitewater will be back in action on Saturday at UW-River Falls for their last regular WIAC game of the season at 2 p.m.
