The UW-Whitewater women's soccer team extended their unbeaten streak to 10 games in a row with a 2-0 win over UW-Platteville. Tonight's game raised money for Alzheimer's research as a part of the WIAC "Playing for a Cause" Initiative.

With this win, Coach
Ryan Quamme has become the coach with the most wins in program history with 127 wins. He surpasses Greg Henschel, the UW-W coach from 2000-11. Quamme also now has the sixth most wins in conference history.

The Warhawks improve to 10-4-3 overall and 3-0-1 in the conference while the Pioneers drop to 1-13-2 and 0-4-1 in conference play.

In the first half, Whitewater controlled most of the game, keeping the ball on Platteville's side of the field and recording eight corner kicks.

Olivia May (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn Area) recorded the team's first shot on goal in the 18th minute.
Anna Brodjian (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) was able to use that deflected shot from the goalie to put it in the lower right corner of the box for a 1-0 lead.

Madisyn Smith (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) tallied a shot in the 33rd minute, but the Pioneer defenders were there to block it. Despite controlling the first 45 minutes, the score would remain at 1-0 in favor of the Warhawks.

UW-W attacked early in the second half by recording a goal in the 50th minute.
Savannah Curtis (Lodi, Wis./Lodi) passed the ball to Brodjian in front of the box, and Brodjian was able to get it past the goalkeeper to put an additional point on the board.

The rest of the game, the Pioneer offense became more aggressive, but the Warhawk defense kept them at bay, limiting them to just one just on goal in the second half.

The women took advantage of the last seven minutes of the game, despite the pouring rain. The women recorded six shots, including four on goal during this time frame.Â

Brodjian tallied the first two, and Curtis had a shot on goal in the 87th minute where
Anna Boyd (De Pere, Wis./De Pere) tallied a shot after the ball came back into play. Rounding out the offense's attacks were shots on goal in the 88th minute from May and the 89th from Curtis.

UW-Whitewater will be back in action on Saturday to play UW-Stout in Eau Claire, Wis. Kick-off is slated for 10 a.m.
