The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team defeated WIAC opponent UW-Stevens Point by 2-1 on Saturday afternoon. This marks the ninth straight game that the women have remained unbeaten.

The Warhawks improve to 9-4-3 and 2-0-1 in the conference while the Pointers dip to 9-3-2 and 3-1 respectively.

UW-W played aggressively in the first half, tallying two shots in the first three minutes. Once the Pointers gained possession of the ball, they were able to find a gap in the box to score a goal in the 10th minute.

Savannah Curtis (Lodi, Wis./Lodi) countered right back, recording a goal just two minutes later with an assist from Elli Wahlberg (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North).

The game continued to be back and forth between both teams recorded multiple shots in the following 20 minutes.

After a UW-Stevens Point foul, Anna Brodjian (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) was able to take advantage of the free kick to put a second Whitewater point on the board in the 31st minute.

UW-W's defense highlighted the second half of the game, keeping the Pointers away from capitalizing on any of their seven shots in the first 16 minutes. Sara Klimisch (Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Indian Trail High School and Academy) recorded three saves.

The Warhawks remained to control UW-Stevens Point's offense as the game would end in a 2-1 score, marking UW-Whitewater's second WIAC win of the season.

UW-Whitewater will be back in action to host UW-Platteville on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
