Men's Track and Field Earns Runner-Up at Home Invite

The No. 4 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's track and field team placed second out of 12 teams Friday at the annual "Squig" Converse Invitational at Kachel Fieldhouse.
 
The Warhawks amassed 102.50 points with only the heptathlon to be concluded Saturday.
 
Juniors Zach Jasinski (Sussex, Wis./Hamilton) and Adam Schommer (Freedom, Wis./Freedom) each posted top 10 national marks in the pole vault. Jasinski recorded a season-best 16-04.75 (5.00 meters), good for first place, and Schommer finished as runner-up with a personal-best 15-08.25 (4.78 meters).
 
Sophomore Brian Kuehl (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) topped a field of 47 runners in the 800-meter run with a 1:54.57, which ranks among the top 10 in NCAA Division III.
 
Freshman Will Bush (New Berlin, Wis./West) was also an event winner, claiming the triple jump with a mark of 43-04.25 (13.21 meters).
 
Sophomore Landon Zimmerman (New Glarus, Wis./New Glarus) recorded a career-best throw of 50.08.00 (15.44 meters) in the shot put, good for fourth place and a top 20 mark in the country.
 
Sophomore David Fassbender (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) and junior Clinten Woerishofer (Appleton, Wis./North) each finished third in distance events. Woerishofer finished the 1-mile run in 4:33.99, while Fassbender posted an 8:37.38 in the 3,000-meter run.
 
The Warhawks resume action next Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Pointer Invitational at 10:30 a.m. in Stevens Point.
