The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's track and field teams continued the 2019 indoor season Friday at Ripon College's Red Hawk Opener in Ripon, Wis.
The Warhawk men won 12 of the 14 events they competed in, while the women claimed seven of their 14 events.
On the men's side, sophomore
David Fassbender (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) posted an NCAA Division III top 15 result in the 1-mile run, winning the event with a personal record 4:19.35. Junior
Alex Duff (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) improved his season-best performance in the 60-meter hurdles, running a preliminary time of 8.32, good for a spot among the nation's top 20.
Junior
Zach Jasinski (Sussex, Wis./Hamilton) entered the top 10 in Division III in the pole vault with a season-best height of 15-07.00 (4.75 meters).
For the women, sophomore Raevin Peek won the high jump with a 5-03.00 (1.60 meters), good for a top 30 height in NCAA Division III. Sophomore Sydney Davidson entered the top 20 in the nation in the pole vault with a season-best 11-03.75 (3.45 meters), good for first place in the event.
Sophomore Shelby Nickels, who entered the night ranked third in the nation in the long jump, won the event Friday with a 17-04.25 (5.29 meters).
The men return home next Friday for the annual "Squig" Converse Invitational starting at 1 p.m., while the women host the Warhawk Classic starting Saturday, Jan. 26, at 12 p.m.
