The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater volleyball team halved two matches Saturday to finish with a 3-1 record at the two-day UW-Whitewater Invitational at Russell Arena.
The Warhawks (3-1 overall) downed Coe 25-18, 27-25, 25-19 in the day's first match before falling 23-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-12 against DePauw to conclude the tournament.
Following the conclusion of play, junior middle hitter
Ashton Doll (Lancaster, Wis./Lancaster) was named to the All-Tournament Team.
In the match against Coe (1-2), the Warhawks hit .276 as a team, including a .483 clip in the first set.
Doll collected a team-best nine kills and added a team-high seven blocks. Freshmen outside hitters
Erin McNeil (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) and
Hope Wissbroecker (Elcho, Wis./Rhinelander) registered eight kills apiece, and junior outside hitter
Rachel Butterfield (Milton, Wis./Milton) and freshman outside hitter
Emma Aske (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) each recorded six.

Paige Manssen (Bull Valley, Ill./McHenry West) finished with 20 assists and four digs. Senior libero
Brittany Robinson (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) posted nine digs and four assists, and junior defensive specialist
Elizabeth Tworek (Lake Zurich, Ill./Carmel Catholic) totaled six digs.
UW-Whitewater jumped out to a 13-5 advantage in the first set and didn't look back, committing only one attack error in the frame. After the Kohawks closed to within 21-18, the Warhawks rallied for four straight points to closed the set, punctuated by a block by Doll and sophomore middle hitter
Samantha Kavajecz (Roscoe, Ill./Rockton Hononegah).
In the second, UW-Whitewater grabbed leads of 11-6 and 15-9 after trailing early in the set. Coe took a 23-22 advantage after a 4-0 run, but the Warhawks closed the period with three of the last four points, including kills by Butterfield and Doll, to take a 2-0 match lead.
The two teams traded points to begin the third set before UW-Whitewater took control on Aske's serve to turn a 9-9 tie into a 15-10 advantage. The Kohawks drew no closer than four points the rest of the way.
Doll led the Warhawks with 11 kills to go along with four blocks against DePauw (2-2). McNeil and Aske totaled eight kills apiece, and Manssen registered a double-double with 24 assists and 13 digs.
Robinson contributed 19 digs, four assists and two service aces, and Aske added 10 digs.
The Warhawks resume action next Friday and Saturday, Sept. 7-8, at the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament. They'll face Ohio Wesleyan to begin tournament play Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Bloomington, Ill.
