The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team played in Kenosha Tuesday afternoon versus Carthage in a match rescheduled from April 18.

The Warhawks (17-6), ranked no. 39 in the nation, downed Carthage (14-7) 9-0. This was their second straight 9-0 victory.

Starting off quickly in doubles, the Warhawks claimed all three matches. Senior
Alexandra Talyansky (Mequon/Homestead) and junior
Gabi Kitchell (Wausau, Wis./D.C. Everest) dominated the second match, blanking their opponents 8-0 and setting the tone for the afternoon.

The Warhawks continued to roll in singles, winning every match in straight sets on their way to a clean victory. Senior
Jillian Wallace (Crystal Lake, IL/Central) claimed the number three slot 6-1, 6-0, while freshman
Paige Nierman (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Stevenson) notched her point in a 6-0, 6-1 fashion for the fifth match. As a late addition to the match, freshman
Sabrina Palavra (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) put together a 6-1, 6-1 performance in the sixth slot to round out a commanding Warhawk victory.

Women's tennis will be back on the courts hosting the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Final Four AQ Tournament on Saturday. Matches will be held at noon and 3 p.m. The No. 1 seed Warhawks will face fourth-seeded UW-Oshkosh before taking on either No. 2 UW-La Crosse or No. 3 UW-Eau Claire in either the championship match or third-place match.
