The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater tennis team brought home a win Tuesday afternoon against Augustana (Ill.), snapping a three-match losing streak.  The game was held at Premier Tennis and Fitness due to the potential for inclement weather and court conditions.

The Warhawks (14-8) downed the Vikings (12-9) in an 8-1 dual.

The Warhawks started strong in doubles.  Senior Zane Navratil (Racine, Wis./The Prairie School) and junior Jimmy Engelhart (Brookfield, Wis./East) earned a hard fought point in the no. 1 slot, while junior Brandon Dechter (Mundelein, Ill./Carmel Catholic) and senior Matt Zurowski (West Bend, Wis./East) followed with a win in the second match to head into singles up 2-1.

The Warhawks pulled away from Augustana in singles.  Navratil and Zurowski put together straight set performances in the first and fourth matches, respectively, allowing Engelhart to clinch the match with a tense three-set affair in the third position.  The Warhawks would continue their dominate performance, sweeping the last three matches in singles in straight sets on their way to a strong in-region victory.

The Warhawk men's tennis team will be back in action on Saturday in the WIAC Tournament, held in La Crosse, Wis.  They will play University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire at 9 a.m. before concluding play at 2 p.m. versus the host, UW-La Crosse.
