The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's track and field teams opened the 2018 outdoor season Thursday at the UW-Platteville Invitational, posting several strong performances throughout the day.
Seniors
Matt Green (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago),
Brett Harms (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) and sophomore
Christian Jackson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa West) each won events to lead the eighth-ranked men. Harms claimed first place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a 9:43.85, nearly six seconds faster than the runner-up. Jackson crossed the finish line first in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.58 seconds, good for a top 10 time in NCAA Division III, and Gren placed first in the triple jump with a 48-02.00 (14.68 meters), good for third in the nation.
Freshman
Brian Kuehl (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) vaulted into the top 10 in the nation in the 800-meter run with a 1:52.31, good for second place overall. Green finished as runner-up in the long jump with a 22-06.50 (6.87 meters), good for a spot among the nation's top 15.
Senior
Jonah Nelson (Dodgeville, Wis./Dodgeville/Mineral Point) claimed second in the 1,500-meter run in 3:59.48, one of two sub-four minute times in the 34-runner field. UW-Whitewater's 4x400-meter relay team of sophomores

Senior
DuVaun Goodlow (Plainfield, Ill./Central) finished second in the high jump with his top 20 height of 6-06.75 (2.00 meters). Sophomore
Zach Jasinski (Sussex, Wis./Hamilton) placed third in the pole vault with a 15-06.25 (4.73 meters), good for a spot in the nation's top 15.
On the women's side, junior Celeste Madda posted a pair of top 20 times in the nation in sprint events. She recorded a 12.36 in the preliminaries of the 100-meter dash, and won the 200-meter dash with a 25.27.
Sophomore Abbie Felton crossed the finish line first in the 400-meter dash with a 56.35, good for a top 10 time in Division III.
The Warhawks' 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relay teams each registered top 20 national marks. The 4x100 team of junior Jordan Tokarski, Madda, Felton and freshman Karon Brown tallied a 48.78, good for third place, and the 4x400 team of sophomores Ashley Tijerina, Megan Hering, Felton and senior Enyo Amet team up for a 4:01.84, good for fourth.
Freshman Raevin Peek placed second in the high jump with a 5-03.00 (1.60 meters), a top 25 result in Division III. Senior Lindsay Chase placed third in the hammer throw with a 165-10 (50.55 meters), good for a top 10 toss in the country.
The Warhawks continue action next weekend at Augustana's Meet of Champions in Rock Island, Ill. The women will compete Friday starting at 3 p.m., while the men will begin events Saturday at 10 a.m.
